The 6th International Wildland Fire Conference continues this week with the theme: “Fire of the Past, Fire in Future” where participants are sharing their technology and knowledge from their own nations about wildland fire. They are also discussing ways to enhance international cooperation on the management and prevention of forest fires.
Presentations have focused on: each nation’s experiences in forest fire management; wildfires and the forest ecosystem; advanced technologies and experiences in extinguishing wildfires swiftly and effectively; and the prevention, control and monitoring of forest fires.
The photo above shows Sarah McCaffrey, a researcher at the U.S. Forest Service, sharing U.S. strategies and measures to strengthen communities and response.
The International Wildland Fire Conference was launched in the U.S. in 1989 and has been held every four years since, and Korea has now become the first Asian nation to host the conference. See the official conference website here and the Facebook site.
