  1. Fires create ash which fertilizes the ground which causes more undergrowth. Proscribed burns do the same. Better to gather up slash piles, transport these to an environmentally friendly mulching factory and mulch them for use elsewhere. That would not create ash (from the control burns) that fertilizes the ground and that causes even more undergrowth. No more proscribed fires getting out of hand, no more undergrowth to catch fire. No more smoke to cause respiratory problems, no more carbon emissions to further global warming. More jobs building green-technology mulching factories, more jobs making and transporting slash piles away from forests, no undergrowth to catch fire. Win-win for everyone.

    Control burns just make more undergrowth. That's stupid. Manage forests the smart, green way; gather and mulch the undergrowth.
    Everyone wins.
