Bob Roper Named Nevada State Forester
Those of you who have been around the Cohesive Strategy block over the last few years are familiar with one of our most renowned leaders - Chief Bob Roper. He's been with the effort nationally and in the West since the beginning (as part of the original think tank - loosely referred to as "The Emmittsburg 13") and as a member of the Wildland Fire Leadership Council (representing IAFC's Wildland Fire Policy Committee).
Chief Roper has recently been named the new Administrator for the Nevada Division of Forestry in Nevada's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Roper will take the position in February, bringing extensive leadership experience and management capability to the state of Nevada.
No stranger to wildfire, as the Fire Chief for Ventura County for 15 years, Roper led the charge in the West for original efforts that reach for landscape resiliency, fire adapted communities and improved wildfire response before those became the goals of the Cohesive Strategy.
Thanks for your years of service Chief! We are looking forward to working with you in Nevada! Congratulations!
